Boys in Babergh 2011

Now in its 10th year, Boys in Babergh gathers 100 boys from around the Babergh district to take part in a 3 month dance project, culminating in a public performance, which in 2011 will take place at the Jerwood DanceHouse, during the weekend of 5/6 March. Boys in Babergh is led by DanceEast tutor Tom Hobden and a professional male choreographer. Past choreographers have included Matthias Sperling, Tom Dale, Kenneth Tharp and comic duo New Art Club.

Previous participants have gone onto join Boyz United; DanceEast's boys-only youth dance company and the DanceEast Academy, the Centre for Advanced Training for the Eastern region.

A decade of Boys in Babergh

In 2011 DanceEast will celebrate over a decade of Boys in Babergh, and the involvement of almost 1000 boys! After a hugely successful Boys in Babergh 2010 we will be inviting Darren Ellis to join us for his second year. Darren is the Artistic Director of Darren Ellis Dance, and since training at Rambert Dance School has performed with a variety of companies and choreographers including Matthew Bourne, Random Dance Company and Richard Alston Dance Company.
