BTEC Extended Diploma in Performing Arts (Dance)

Are you passionate, committed, self motivated and ambitious with the potential to succeed in dance? If so the new BTEC Extended Diploma in Performing Arts (Dance) is for you!
This course is based three days a week at the purpose built Jerwood DanceHouse on the Ipswich waterfront. Students will learn with professional dance practitioners and educationists within state of the arts facilities.
The course follows four main strands:
- Technique;
- Performance;
- Dance appreciation;
- Performing arts industry.
It is delivered through a variety of methods including:
- Group practice workshops;
- Seminars;
- Self directed rehearsal time.
Students are continually assessed through portfolio evidence.
As well as learning the core principals of dance training, students have the opportunity to explore a variety of dance and performance styles including urban, jazz, and site specific performance. Students are supported throughout by a mentor.
The BTEC Extended Diploma in Performing Arts is equivalent to three A-Levels and a further A-Level can be studied alongside it. There is also an option equivalent to two A-Levels.
Minimum entry requirements: 4 - 5 GCSEs at grades A* - C
Applicants need to pass an audition and interview.
