Past Academy projects

Each year Academy students have the opportunity to participate in a range of workshops in addition to their regular training, which often allows them to try out different dance styles.

Previous opportunities have included workshops with:

  • Bawren Tavaziva;
  • Mandy Montanez (BBC's So You Think You Can Dance);
  • Northern Ballet Theatre;
  • Skip Hop;
  • Wayne McGregor | Random Dance;
  • Zoonation.

Performance opportunities

Annual performance projects expose students to professional choreographers who each bring a unique style and process. Students have performed in local, regional and national venues including:
  • Bonnie Bird Theatre;
  • Clore Ballroom, Southbank Centre; 
  • Jerwood DanceHouse; 
  • New Wolsey Theatre; 
  • Norwich Playhouse;
  • Norwich Theatre Royal;
  • Robin Howard Theatre; 
  • Royal Festival Hall.

Rough Cuts: James Cousins

Thursday 14 June, 7.00pm

James Cousins, winner of the New Adventures Choreographer Award, returns to the Jerwood DanceHouse to create and present one of the two new pieces that he will go on to showcase at Sadler’s Wells in September.

This Rough Cut offers a unique opportunity to see James’ work at an early stage of development. The new work for three outstanding performers will explore love, trust and dependency and what happens when these powerful bonds are broken.
