E-MOTIONAL Bodies & Cities, May 2011 - April 2013

E-MOTIONAL Bodies & Cities is a two year mobility and artistic exchange dance programme gathering artists and managers from six European countries – Romania, Cyprus, Ireland, Latvia, United Kingdom and Turkey. The programme plans to identify, nurture, attract and sustain talent and creativity at European level, by connecting artists and dance managers from countries participating in the project.

  • Five artistic residencies in Dublin, Limassol, Riga, London and Bucharest.
  • A Motion Fund including 14 ArtistNe(s)t dance residencies, 20 mobility grants and 11 Gabriela Tudor fellowships for dance managers.
  • 12 performance exchanges.
  • One co-production.
  • Two training sessions in dance management in Riga and Limassol.
  • One international forum in Bucharest

Six major dance organisations, universities and a hospital unite to launch the first National Institute of Dance Medicine and Science

The National Institute of Dance Medicine and Science (NIDMS) provides a radical new approach to dancers’ healthcare which is one of the most pressing problems facing the growing industry. NIDMS aims to provide access for all dancers to high quality, evidence-based, dance specific healthcare and dance science services.

The founding partners are Dance UK, Birmingham Royal Ballet’s Jerwood Centre for the Prevention and Treatment of Dance Injuries, Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance, University of Wolverhampton, University of Birmingham and the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital.

The English Folk Dance and Song Society opens applications for creative artist residencies

The English Folk Dance and Song Society (EFDSS) has launched a new scheme offering creative residencies at its London base. The initiative is open to individuals or groups who want to explore their creative potential and the English traditions by undertaking a residency at Cecil Sharp House to research and develop new work.

The creative residencies are open to professional artists across all sectors – from classical composers and contemporary dancers to poets, musicians or visual artists – not just those working within the folk arts. The residencies will run from September 2012 to March 2013.

Deadline for submissions: Saturday 30 June.

Rough Cuts: Marc Brew Company

Thursday 19 July, 7.00pm
 
Marc Brew Company see the composition of new music as an integral part of the creation process. With each work that Marc creates, he works with a composer and musicians to realise a new musical score.
 
The Rough Cut will give you the opportunity to see extracts of work which the company will tour this autumn and to find out more about the process of creating new music and dance collaboratively. The company will be joined for the evening by Dame Evelyn Glennie and Philip Sheppard.
