What can the audience expect from Leaving Only a Trace? |
|
Leaving Only a Trace is rooted in Bharatanatyam (South Indian
dance); however, using various theatrical devices this is an original
and dynamic style of storytelling.
The performance takes audiences on a journey of understanding the
difficulties of letting go of the past, and how memories are an
important factor in the makeup of who we are. |
|
What was your inspiration? |
|
To develop the ideas and stories in this work I drew upon my own
experiences for inspiration. In terms of my style of work, I have been
inspired by many artists including James Thiérrée, Simon McBurney,
Philippe Genty and Phillipp Boe. |

Are you excited about performing at the DanceHouse? |
|
I am extremely excited to be performing at the DanceHouse. I’m looking
forward to the response and feedback as this is the first time this work
will be shown to the public. |
| |
|
What are your next steps? |
|
I will be performing Leaving Only a Trace in a regional tour of the East in spring 2011, with a national tour in autumn 2011, followed by international dates. |
Rising star Shane Shambhu came to the DanceHouse for the first time in February 2011 with his new work, Leaving Only a Trace.
