AcademyKidz, a fun and lively dance course!
AcademyKidz is
for young people
aged 9 - 13 who have got a flair and passion for dance, living in
Cambridgeshire. No previous experience is required.
When do classes run?
Classes in Cambridge take place on Wednesday evenings.
How long is the course?
The course runs for approximately 23 weeks (term time only).
What is involved?

One dance session per week in Cambridge.
- You will learn simple technique and creative dance moves.
- Two visits to see a professional performance.
- A trip to see DanceEast Academy* students at the Jerwood DanceHouse on the Ipswich waterfront.
How much does it cost?

If your family income is below £27,500 you will be eligible for a grant, meaning it's free!
- If your family income is between £27,501 and £60,000 it costs just £100, with the remainder being covered by a grant.
- If your family income is above £60,001 it costs £200.
How do I join?

Applicants take part in a trial class, where
everyone has the chance to dance together and see if dance is for
them!
- 20 people will then be invited to join the programme.
What happens once the course is completed?

When you finish the course you will receive a certificate and statement detailing what you have achieved.
- If you want to take your dancing further you can audition for the DanceEast Academy*.
- If you want to continue dancing for fun, DanceEast can put you in
touch with other local providers who will be able to offer a variety of
classes.
*The DanceEast Academy is a Government funded training scheme for young
people with exceptional potential and a passion for dance. It trains
young people from across the East of England in preparation for full
time vocational dance training and careers in dance.
