Individual Training Plans and health profiling
Individual Training Plans (ITPs) are designed to help students get the best out of training by setting individual targets, along with recording weaknesses. These enable each student to have a clear idea of what they are working on.
Young dancers develop and improve at different speeds and ITPs allow this to be monitored.
ITP's are devised between the teaching team, student and their parents/guardians/carers. With permission a copy of the programme is sent to the student's school (mainstream education) and to dance schools where students are taking additional classes.
Initially, parents/guardians/carers will be asked to meet with the Academy team twice a year to discuss progress and any changes to the training plan. Meeting times are offered at the start or end of class to minimise additional travel.
Health and fitness profiling for DanceEast Academy students
DanceEast Academy students undergo a health and fitness profiling session twice a year. This allows fitness levels, physical factors like flexibility and strength and also the psychological health and happiness of students to be recorded.
Results allow students to be advised about what they need to work on in their ITPs or supplementary training plans. Results are also used by the Academy Physiotherapist so students can be provided with injury prevention programmes.
Fitness profiling is conducted by a team of professional Dance Scientists and Physiotherapists. If a parent wishes to be present during these group sessions they should contact the Academy Manager.
