The Academy provides classes in five core areas:
- Technique;
- Creative and choreography;
- Performance;
- Health education;
- Enrichment activity.
The combination of classes gives students a strong basic grounding in a range of relevant dance skills to enable them to apply to full time dance training and education courses. This curriculum is informed by the latest research and complemented by opportunities for students to work with professional artists and companies.
Classes at the DanceEast Academy take place at the Jerwood DanceHouse, Ipswich, on Saturdays (junior level) and Sundays, with mid-week classes in Ipswich, Norwich or Cambridge.
Means-tested grant funding is available for all successful applicants through the Department for Education’s Music and Dance Scheme. The Academy is funded by the Department for Education (DfE).
