DanceEast Performance Groups

Do you love to dance? Audition this September!


DanceEast runs a range of Performance Groups for people of all ages. Groups occasionally have the opportunity to collaborate with other community based dance companies, and perform at various platforms throughout the year – including the Winter Showcase (8 December 2012) and High Voltage (29 and 30 June 2013). The length of commitment required is one academic year.

Musical Theatre Performance Group
Thursdays, 13 September - 6 December, 5.15 - 6.15pm (no class 1 November)


Age 10 - 15yrs
Cost £55 per term

Led by Emma Dodd, this Performance Group will develop technique and routines, working to create a piece to be presented at the Winter Showcase on Saturday 8 December. Dancers will need to be able to commit to weekly rehearsals as well as the performance. There may be opportunities to perform at other platforms. (There isn't an audition for this group.)

 

Boyz United
Improve your dance technique and develop choreographic and creative skills in a fun and energetic, male only environment. No previous dance experience is necessary, but enthusiasm is a must!
 
 

Age 10 - 15yrs

Dance Unlimited
This group is for dance teachers, students, practitioners and dance artists with at least two years dance experience. Sessions include a technical warm-up and the opportunity to explore choreographic ideas and creative work.

Suffolk Junior Dance Company
Are you looking to improve your contemporary technique alongside choreographic and creative skills? If you are then why not join Suffolk Juniors?!

Members have the opportunity to work on collaborative projects and perform in a variety of settings throughout the year.
 
 

Age 11 - 15yrs

Suffolk Youth Dance Company
Calling experienced dancers! Develop your contemporary technique, understanding of improvisation, contact work, choreographic and performance skills.

Company members are encouraged to explore creativity and build on technical abilities in order to grow as an individual, and as part of a company.

Termly sessions Saturdays, 11.00am - 1.00pm

Spin Off Dance Company
This performance group is for adults with additional needs, and membership is by invitation only. Sessions include dance technique and the development of choreographic and performance skills.

Current members share a wealth of experience between them and perform together at least twice a year.

Arts Award

Members of Boyz United, Suffolk Juniors and Suffolk Youth Dance Company have the opportunity to work towards the Bronze Arts Award. The Arts Award is a national qualification that supports young people in all areas of the arts. The scheme provides a fantastic way for young people to develop creativity and leadership skills.
Certificates are issued by Trinity College London and the scheme is supported by Arts Council England.

Cost: £25 per year

Funky Voices - Children's Modern Choir

Friday 7 June, 5.00 - 6.30pm

The award winning Funky Voices is open to young people aged 11 - 16yrs wanting to sing modern, upbeat songs by contemporary artists including Michael Jackson, Take That, Lady Gaga and Queen. Forthcoming projects include the recording of a full-length album to be released on iTunes plus performance opportunities in London's West End and throughout the East of England region.Book Tickets Now
Membership Opportunities

Apply to join a DanceEast Performance Group


Auditions take place at the Jerwood DanceHouse, on the Ipswich waterfront.

To apply to any of DanceEast’s Performance Groups, please complete the application form and return it to DanceEast together with a recent photograph of yourself.

Participation requires commitment throughout the year and may require additional rehearsal and project work. All those who submit an application will be invited to audition. Auditions take place in the form of an informal class and you will not have to prepare anything in advance.
