Dancehouse
DanceEast at the Jerwood DanceHouse
Due to open in September 2009, the Jerwood DanceHouse is DanceEast’s dream home and will be the cultural cornerstone of the waterfront regeneration in Ipswich. As part of the Mill development, the DanceHouse will occupy four storeys of the building along the length of Foundary Lane.
With three architect-designed dance studios, a 200-seat studio theatre, cafe bar, fitness suite, resource centre and offices, the DanceHouse will be a fantastic place to dance and to see dance. We will be presenting a year-long programme of emerging and established artists from across the East of England and from around the world, and supporting the production of new work. We will have a resource centre for dance artists and dance students and a programme of professional development for teachers and artists from across the East of England.
The DanceHouse will offer dance classes, workshops, short courses and body conditioning for all the community. It will be a wonderful place to come and enjoy dance for all ages, with fully accessible facilities, showers, changing rooms and a waterside cafe.
The DanceHouse will be home to the new DanceEast Academy, the Government-funded Centre for Advanced Training for the East of England, providing first class dance teaching to the region’s very best young dancers.
