Our vision is a world where everyone values the extraordinary power of dance. We provide extraordinary performances and life-affirming participatory opportunities for all and offer a dynamic, nurturing environment for artists at all stages of their career.
Jerwood DanceHouse - DanceEast's Home
In 2000 it became clear that DanceEast needed an identifiable base it could call its own. Ipswich has always been DanceEast’s home – the location is ideal; it’s served with good transportation links and has undergone major regeneration. The proximity to London also makes it easily accessible to the many artists based in the capital.
After years of planning and construction, the Jerwood DanceHouse officially opened its doors to the public in October 2009.
We are very proud of our amazing building and want to share it with everyone
Inside you’ll find:
- A 200 seat Studio Theatre where some of the best professional dance companies in the world create new work and perform. They do this alongside fantastic local community projects in a diverse programme that brings people together through dance from across Suffolk and the region.
- A number of world-class dance studios, all double-height spaces with wood sprung timber dance floor and natural light
- Our great value family friendly café, which serves hot and cold drinks, cakes, light lunches and alcoholic drinks throughout the day and on show nights.
- A Therapy/Treatment Room.
- A Seminar Room for meetings and training courses.
- A resource room to support undergraduate students in Ipswich.
