Eternal Light 2009
A dazzling collaboration of dance, music and design grace Snape Maltings Concert Hall on 27 and 28 February, when Rambert Dance Company's Eternal Light Tour 2009 visits Suffolk with its award winning Associate Orchestra, London Musici.
Established in 1926, Rambert Dance Company is Britain's oldest and largest modern dance company, boasting 22 dancers from both classical and contemporary backgrounds, who are considered to be some of the finest and most versatile in the world.
Eternal Light a powerful piece by Artistic Director Mark Baldwin is set to an elegiac and uplifting score by British composer Howard Goodall, whose previous work includes television themes for Blackadder and The Vicar of Dibley.
Eternal Light is a heartfelt remembrance of things gone by: what has been and is now gone but is held in our hearts forever. Sumptuous set and costume designs feature sparkling crystals donated by Swarovski, and a striking headdress design from fashion milliner Stephen Jones.
Renowned British choreographer Siobhan Davies has re-worked the popular and endearing Carnival of the Animals especially for this tour. Inspired by John Adams' flamboyant Chamber Symphony, in his first work for Rambert, the American choreographer Doug Varone presents the daringly complex Scribblings.
