Local Businessmen put their best foot forward at the DanceEast ‘Life is a Cabaret’ Charity Fashion Show
The DanceEast fashion show on
Friday 1 October at the Jerwood DanceHouse will give you the opportunity to see some of Suffolk’s leading businessmen in a whole new light – or at least, a whole new outfit! Fabulous volunteers will be strutting their stuff on the catwalk at the ‘Life is a Cabaret’ Fashion Show in a skirt of their choice, be it a Beckham style sarong, a traditional kilt or something more adventurous!
These men will be raising money to help support DanceEast’s community participation and education work with schools, hospitals and looked after children. DanceEast offers the opportunity to use dance for creative expression and physical and psychological therapy, through expert tuition and support.
The group includes two lawyers, a restaurateur, and an architect as well as leading members from the local business community. All of them are busy gathering sponsorship and there is a certain amount of healthy competition amongst them to see who can raise the most from their network of friends and associates.
This unique opportunity to see some of Suffolk most successful men in business on the catwalk is not to be missed.
For several years, DanceEast’s Community Dance Artist has been working in Ipswich and Colchester hospitals on a weekly basis to deliver dance therapy on the children's wards. At Ipswich Hospital the Dance Artist works closely with the Play Specialist Co-ordinator to work out the best type of approach for each individual child. Sessions take place either at the child's bed side, in the play room or the hospital school room.
Dancing On Ice star, Nicky Slater, will be hosting the evening at the Jerwood DanceHouse on the Ipswich waterfront. Nicky Slater said
‘I’m thrilled to be involved in such a wonderful event. The work DanceEast does in the community is hugely important and I’m glad to be able to offer my support.'
Participating shops include Marianna, Caramel, Coes and Trotter and Dean, as well as the Jerwood DanceHouse’s very own retail outlet Cake and Catwalk. Antonio Giovanni Salon will be doing the hair styling and Sue from Image Beauty Salon will be doing the make-up.
Guests will enjoy a glass of champagne on arrival, cabaret performances by London’s Volupté Lounge and an opportunity to shop from stalls in the DanceHouse’s Red Shoe Studio. There will be two opportunities to watch the fashion show (at 7.00 and 9.00 pm) which will include performances by DanceEast groups.
