Dancing on Ice Star supports 'Life is a Cabaret' Fashion Show
Fashion boutiques will be on the catwalk for the 'Life is a Cabaret' charity fashion show on Friday 1 October
The event is raising much needed funds to support DanceEast's community participation and education work with schools, hospitals and looked after children.
Dancing On Ice star, Nicky Slater, will be hosting the evening at the Jerwood DanceHouse on the Ipswich waterfront. Nicky Slater said
'I'm thrilled to be involved in such a wonderful event. The work DanceEast does in the community is hugely important and I'm glad to be able to offer my support.'
Participating shops include Marianna, Caramel, Coes and Trotter and Deane, as well as the Jerwood DanceHouse's retail outlet Cake and Catwalk. Hair styling will be buy Antonio Giovanni Salon, with make-up by Sue from Image Beauty Salon.
Guests will enjoy a glass of champagne on arrival, cabaret performances by London's Volupté Lounge and an opportunity to shop from stalls in the DanceHouse's Red Shoe Studio. There will be two opportunities to watch the fashion show (7.00 and 9.00 pm) which will include performances by DanceEast groups and surprise guests.
Raffle tickets will be available for sale from Friday 25 June. Dazzling prizes include a
house in the Algarve for 2 weeks, courtesy of the
Seven Property Group, an
Elsa Peretti 'Diamonds by the Yard' necklace, from
Tiffany & Co. and a
Givenchy ladies watch from
Andrews Jewellers.
This very special evening is to raise funds specifically for DanceEast's work in the community and with children. DanceEast works with looked after children and children at risk, as well as children in hospitals, bringing them the opportunity to use dance for creative expression and physical and psychological therapy, through expert tuition and support.
For several years, DanceEast's Community Dance Artist has been working in Ipswich and Colchester hospitals on a weekly basis to deliver dance therapy on the children's wards. At Ipswich Hospital the Dance Artist works closely with the Play Specialist Co-ordinator to work out the best type of approach for each individual child. Sessions take place either at the child's bed side, in the play room or the hospital school room.
The event is being kindly being sponsored by
MSC, who are existing Business Patrons of DanceEast and longstanding supporters of DanceEast's work in the community.
The evening's entertainment includes a catwalk treat as DanceEast is encouraging local businessmen to obtain sponsorship for the opportunity to strut their stuff on the catwalk - in a skirt of their choice, be it a Beckham style sarong, a traditional kilt or something more adventurous!
