Dance3

A triple bill from the new wave of dancemakers
Friday 28 and Saturday 29 May, 7.30pm, Jerwood DanceHouse

Experience dance in a new dimension - three fresh, bite sized performances showcasing the best up and coming professional choreographers and their collaborators in one evening.

Three talented artists let their imaginations run riot creating compelling and varied performances mixing physical brilliance, music and film. Accompanied by A Blank Canvas, a foyer installation by Heather Eddington's State of Flux Dancefilm Company, blending dance, film and animation.

Sticks and Bones devised, choreographed and performed by Darren Ellis
A solo for Darren and his drumsticks, this is an exploration of practice and the quest for perfection. Just as a drummer must lock and focus his co-ordination, measuring out a rhythm to entice people to dance, a simple rhythm can inspire armies to move. When the sticks take control that's when the trouble starts.

Between the Shingle and the Dune, by Laïla Diallo, in collaboration with Theo Clinkard
Canadian born, Bristol based choreographer Laïla Diallo first came to prominence as a dancer with Wayne McGregor's Random Dance before attracting attention with her own choreographic work. Here, in collaboration with Theo Clinkard, she creates physical narratives of togetherness and evokes shifting landscapes of distance and closeness.

Appel by Mickael Marso Riviere
French choreographer Mickael Marso Riviere is well known as a hip hop artist, and formed Company Decalage in 2004. Appel is a trio based on the live interaction between two dancers and a musician playing Bansuri (flute) and tabla and is inspired in equal parts by b-boying and capoeira.
