Danza Contemporánea de Cuba
Friday 11 and Saturday 12 May, 7.30pm
Danza Contemporánea de Cuba received overwhelming acclaim for its first ever major UK tour in 2010. The fresh, joyous and passionate programme of work featured the outstanding
Mambo 3XXI, created by resident choreographer and dancer
George Céspedes and nominated for both an Olivier and TMA Award for his outstanding contribution to dance.
This internationally renowned company returns with a programme including a piece by award-winning choreographer and influencer of modern dance,
Itzik Galili;
Carmen?!, Kenneth Kvarnström’s cheeky, playful interpretation of
Carmen with the music from Bizet featuring seven male dancers, and a chance to experience the incredible
Mambo 3XXI.
‘Drop-dead gorgeous, performed in such perfect synch, and with such sexy intensity, that you can’t tear your eyes away.’ The Times
Danza Contemporánea de Cuba has for 50 years produced dancers of the highest level with a style evoking the
sensual, mystical and
raw heart of Cuban spirit. Collaborations with international leaders in dance have combined with the
Afro-Caribbean and Spanish fusions to produce an
electrifying, evocative and
distinctly unique expression of all that is Cuban.
