About DanceEast

DanceEast is so much more than a dance class facilitator and theatre venue. Flick through these pages to find out more about our diverse programme of activities.

Artists and professionals are at the heart of our organisation and we are committed to supporting them in various ways; Associate Artist Scheme, Rural Retreats, CPD workshops, Advance Levels Classes, Choreographic Development Fund and much more.

DanceEast has been running a range of innovative community projects for over thirty years. We work with a range of partners on local, national and international projects and enjoy introducing people to dance for the first time as much as developing and refining skills in more experienced dancers.

We have a great team of hard-working, enthusiastic and DanceEast-loving staff. Click on the staff profiles to find out more about them and to get in contact.

In 2013 we celebrated our 30th anniversary – we’ve come a long way from our grassroots beginnings as Suffolk Dance, moving into the fantastic Jerwood DanceHouse, and our vision remains to provide the best quality dance opportunities to everyone in Ipswich, across Suffolk and beyond.

Associate Artists

We are excited to announce new Associate Artist partnerships 2018-2020 with Kaia Goodenough, Tim Casson, Julie Cunningham and Joseph Toonga.

Working with a range of artists and companies from across the UK and international partners, the Associate Artist scheme is the top-level strand of support for dance artists that we offer at DanceEast. The collaborative relationships run over a two-year period, and we will support three Associate Artists and for the first time, a Junior Associate, an artist in the earlier stages of their career.
