VOLUNTEER USHERS

Our Volunteer Ushers help us to create a safe and friendly environment, so that we can deliver a varied programme of exciting, innovative and educational works performed by both world renowned companies and community groups.

Ushers don’t just check tickets, they work as part of a wider Front of House team during performances and events; providing excellent customer service, acting as a point of contact for our audiences, and essentially supporting health and safety procedures in the event of an emergency.

Ushering at DanceEast is a great way to learn new skills, meet new people and experience a diverse programme of performances from both up and coming and internationally established artists.

Most ushering shifts last between 2 and 4 hours; the majority of which would be spent in the theatre watching the performance and staying vigilant to report any potential issues, such as unauthorised filming or photography. As a general rule we would like prospective ushers to commit to 2 or more shows a season, this ensures we maintain a good standard of customer care. Each season we host a variety of events and performances, we send our ushers a list of upcoming performances and rota these shows on a voluntary basis dependant on your availability.

As a thank you Volunteer Ushers receive one complimentary ticket to a DanceEast performance of their choice (subject to availability) per 5 events ushered.
