BALLET | OPEN

This class will focus on the fundamentals of ballet technique. This class is recommended for beginners and those with less than 2 year’s experience in ballet, or for those who have not attended a ballet class for several years.

Led by our experienced tutor, Gail Lister, participants of this structured class can expect to:

• Improve core strength, posture, coordination, and flexibility
• Develop technique and stamina
• Learn the French terminology for ballet exercises

Each class will start with a warm up at the barre before practicing techniques and positions needed for centre work. The second half of the class moves into the centre to practice a mixture of turns and small allegro (jumping) moves, before ending with a slow and gentle stretch on the floor.

Please wear clothes that you are comfortable moving in and bring a reusable bottle of water. Water fountains can be found on the ground floor and 1^st floor of the building.

If you have never attended a ballet class, you will find it useful to look up the basic ballet positions of the feet and arms before you join the class.
