Yoga (Hatha Yin) 16+

Yoga is a spiritual and ascetic discipline, including breath control, simple meditation, and the adoption of specific bodily postures.

Hatha Yin emphasises the awareness of the breath and holding postures to allow time to really stretch and relax into poses. The class focuses on being meditative whilst holding stretches and develop awareness of thoughts, feelings and emotions. Stronger standing postures are also held, which develops strength and focuses on breathing into postures. The aim of the class is to make you feel like you have worked, but also feel calmer, grounded and more relaxed.

Some people find that the physical practice of yoga becomes a gateway into spiritual exploration, while others just enjoy a wonderful low-impact workout that makes them feel great. Typically, a DanceEast yoga class will focus purely on the physical benefits of yoga.

Nick Maggs

I have been practicing yoga and meditation for over twenty years. I have been teaching yoga since 2008 after doing my yoga teacher training in Rishikesh, in the foothills of the Himalayas. I like to focus on the mindfulness of yoga practice by holding postures and taking the mind inwards through breath awareness.

What to wear

You can wear any loose, comfortable clothing that you can move freely in, and we do ask that you have bare feet. Yoga mats are provided, but you may wish to bring your own.
