PRESS RELEASE
CREATE A DANCE IN A DAY, WITH TIM CASSON
Casson and Friends, creators of contemporary dance with a focus on collaboration and interactivity, invites the people of Ipswich and DanceEast to choreograph their very own dance on Saturday 1 July. With ‘family’ as the stimulus for creation, the new dance will be made, rehearsed and performed in just one day.
Tim Casson founded Casson and Friends to bring ‘the joy of dance into the everyday’. The first project, The Dance WE Made, became a unique way for everyday people to engage with dance, and draw upon their creative potential. In 2012 The Dance WE Made set a new World Record by combining dance moves from 152 people into one solo performance, a dance with the largest number of choreographers ever created.
This unique form of interactive dance will hit Ipswich this summer, inviting members of the public to devise original choreography. With no experience or knowledge of dance required, The Dance WE Made invites anyone to be a choreographer; the team of Casson and Friends dancers can create a new dance out of just about anything, in 120 minutes and using suggestions from the public. Look out for Tim on the Waterfront, in the town, and in and around the Jerwood DanceHouse.
The DanceEast performance groups will work with Tim too, as part of a Summer Celebration platform. The groups will be showcased alongside local community groups, and DanceEast’s Centre for Advanced Training students.
Suitable for all ages.
