We are delighted to announce that DanceEast has been awarded funding from Ipswich Borough Council to launch the DanceEast Bursary Fund. As part of our 40th anniversary, we are launching an access scheme to provide children and young people in Ipswich with free places in our regular classes programme, so that children and young people can experience the joyful benefits of dance.

The funding from Ipswich Borough Council will provide 11 young people, aged between 8-16 years, with a free place in one of our dance classes this Autumn Term (September – December 2023). The fund is intended for young people from low-income households, who love to dance or would like to try dance for the first time, and who would otherwise not be able to afford a term’s worth of dance activity.

The places will be offered on a first-come-first-served basis and are available to book on our website or via the phone. Just give our friendly Box Office team a call on 01473 295230. Participants will need to fit the following criteria to gain a free place:

  • Must live in Ipswich.
  • Must be between 8 and 16 years old.
  • Be in receipt of free school meals or universal credit.

The young people will be able to attend 10 weeks of their chosen class. Options include:

  1. Juniors Creative Dance (8-11 years | Mondays or Saturdays)
  2. Breakdance (11-16 years | Mondays)
  3. Youth Contemporary Level 1 (11-16 years | Thursdays)
  4. Youth Contemporary Level 2 (11-16 years | Saturdays)

Follow the hyperlinks above to book your place in one of our classes! Dancers can expect to learn new skills, build stamina, strength, improved balance, and coordination, as well as have fun, make friends, and become part of the DanceEast community. The deadline to book your free place is 8 September at 10am.

We would like to thank Ipswich Borough Council for this opportunity to provide free places to our classes programme and continue our mission for everyone to experience the joyful benefits of dance.
