House to Home will be an exciting performance featuring over 100 community dancers. It will be inspired by the story of how the Jerwood DanceHouse has been and will be a home to so many.
The event will follow a documentary style including live dance performances from DanceEast’s performance companies, as well as an open community group lead by UNIT artist, Tom Hobden and a community group aged 7 – 11 years lead by Caroline Mummery. The performance will also feature Primary Steps – a Royal Ballet School programme which introduces primary school children to classical ballet. In addition to the dance performances, there will be film and interviews that will bring together the past, present and future artists of the Jerwood DanceHouse.
House to Home hopes to tell a story that captures the day-to-day life of the building and celebrates everything, and everyone housed within it – now and in the future.
“I wanted to create a scrap book of everything the dance house has been and is. The performance will reflect upon the movement created in the studios, the stories heard in the corridors and al the hidden details if the building and its inhabitants.” Tom Hobden, UNIT artist.
DanceEast is excited to bring the Jerwood DanceHouse to life with two celebratory performances on Saturday 6 June at 4.00pm and 7.00pm.
