OSCiLLATE is a ground-breaking tap dance experience choreographed by Avalon Rathgeb and Dre Torres that explores human interaction and the effects of miscommunication in relationships.
OSCiLLATE is influenced by original electronic dance music and its coordination between light and sound. The piece reveals an eclectic group of individuals who display a range of human interaction and relationships through movement and sound. The concept of the show unveils the struggle between communication and how it can be misunderstood by each other and by those watching. Expansion into group pieces will articulate the transitions between lack of communication, confusion, and misunderstanding, and move us towards proficiency within compassion and equality.
Old Kent Road have spent a lot of time at the Jerwood DanceHouse in the past year, developing OSCiLLATE as well as hosting a Tap Jam with DanceEast class attendees. DanceEast are looking forward to seeing how OSCiLLATE has transformed in the past year. Old Kent Road presents OSCiLLATE on Friday 28 June, 7.30pm. In addition to the performance, Old Kent Road will also be holding a Tap Workshop for adults over the age of 16 years at DanceEast on Wednesday 26 June.
