Oyster Community Press CI
C is partnering with DanceEast, to create an exhibition of printmaking for the prestigious Jerwood DanceHouse Gallery, that will explore women’s roles in our society.

The project has been fully funded by local charities and County Councillors to provide ladies over 18 years living in IP 3 and IP 4, a unique chance to learn the art form of printmaking, without having to pay for tuition fees. Plus they will have their work framed and displayed in a professional exhibition.

Additionally, all participants will be invited to bring friends and family to a private launch of the My Place exhibition at the Jerwood DanceHouse Gallery, at the end of April. The exhibition will be on display throughout May, but when it is over, the ladies will be able to keep their artwork and take it home.

My Place Printmaking classes will be held weekly on either a Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday morning, from 10 am to 1 pm, in the beautiful conservatory in Holywells Park. Ladies will learn printmaking techniques in small groups so that they can get to know each other and receive one to one tuition. Classes begin on February 28th and run through to April 13th. No previous experience of printmaking is necessary, as Oyster Community Press has a lot of experience in teaching printmaking to beginners, however, an interest in art would be helpful.

Any ladies who want to take part should contact Alison or Al on 01379 783 703 or 07990553662 or email to book a free 1 hour taster session at the Conservatory on Wednesday 22nd February at either 10 am, 11 am or 12 noon. Once ladies have had a go at printmaking they can sign up for the project and choose which day they wish to attend workshops.
