WHAT’S ON FOR FAMILIES AT DANCEEAST THIS SPRING

09 Feb 2023

The lighter evenings and sunny February days are getting us excited for spring being just around the corner. This season at DanceEast, we have plenty of exciting opportunities for children and families to get involved with, from ages 0 to 80!

This February half-term, we are running a Half Term Holiday Club for ages 4 – 7 and 8 – 11. Our Holiday Club takes place from Thursday 16 – Friday 17 February and is led by two fantastic dance artists, Laura Wright and Rosy May. Our Holiday Club is a fun way for children and young people to explore creative dance, build confidence, make friends and channel all that bubbly energy before going back to school. This half term’s activities are inspired by the current Landscape Rebels Exhibition at Christchurch Mansion. There are still spaces available to book for ages 4-7 years https://bit.ly/3hILtdw and 8-11 years https://bit.ly/3hST7lP

We are excited for our second sell-out show of the season, Underwater by Xenia Aidonopoulou and Georgia Tegou. Underwater is an immersive multi-sensory show, for babies aged 0-2 and their parents or carers, inspired by a magical journey into the deep blue ocean. Congratulations to Xenia for being awarded the Little Big Dance Cycle Two Commission to create and tour a brand-new piece of work. The future of family theatre is looking exciting!

For everyone aged 7+, Aakash Odedra’s Little Murmur is coming to DanceEast on Friday 24 February. Don’t miss this stunning visual treat, which opens up a meaningful conversation about the trials and tribulations of living with dyslexia. Combining visual design and technology with dance and humour, Little Murmur features ground-breaking projection, an extraordinary soundscape and a blizzard of paper and confetti. Book your tickets here.

Our Centre for Advanced Training (CAT) team are holding taster days this half term for young people aged between 10-16 years to find out more about the CAT! Whatever your previous experience of dance, everyone is welcome! Find your nearest Taster Day here.
