DanceEast is offering early career dance artists and recent dance graduates living and working in Suffolk and the East a unique professional development opportunity.
The Workforce Development Programme (pilot) includes eight high quality and aspirational training sessions for emerging dance artists to upskill practically and artistically, and become market-ready to deliver dance in education and community settings. The programme will support dance artists in building their confidence in planning and delivering in a number of different non-arts settings, and in negotiating new work.
Mentoring during and after the programme will be provided by Tom Hobden and the DanceEast team.
Sessions may include:
– Facilitating creativity
– Working with Primary school age children and early years
– Working in youth and community settings
– Working with older people
– Inclusive practice
– Finance and funding
– ‘How to package your offer’
– Safeguarding
– First Aid
– One-to-one mentoring
Full-day sessions will take place subject to the availability of individuals, between October 2017 and April 2018. There is no fee for taking part in the programme but participants may be encouraged to contribute to a number of DanceEast events. Please note, this offer is aimed at individuals living locally, or keen to work in Suffolk and the East, contributing to Suffolk’s ambition to get more people moving, and becoming the country’s most active county.
To express your interest, please email Alison.Hartley@danceeast.co.uk with your CV, and a covering letter including your current dance teaching experience and future interests/ambitions, by 12pm on Friday 6 October.
The Workforce Development Programme is funded by Suffolk’s Most Active County campaign.
