Just Us Dance Theatre presents A night with the Just Us Hip Hop Apprentice Co.

The Just Us Apprentice Co. will be presenting a mixed bill of hip hop work live streamed from the Jerwood DanceHouse theatre with works by Joseph Toonga, Kenrick ‘H2o’ Sandy, Shannelle ‘Tali’ Fergus and Shawn Aimey. There will also be guest video pieces and interviews with each choreographer and a live post show Q&A with the dancers.

The Just Us Hip Hop Apprentice Co. presents an evening of hip hop dance, bringing some of the UK’s freshest emerging dancers to your screens! The Apprentice Company was started by Just Us Dance Theatre to provide new access in the hip hop sector for early career artists. After months of training and upskilling, our cohort are ready to present a bill of hip hop choreography created by some of the UK’s most current & exciting Hip Hop theatre makers.

Joseph Toonga

Artistic Director of Just Us Dance Theatre, Co-Director of Artists4Artists and an Associate Artist at DanceEast. Joseph makes and performs dance productions relevant to the here and now which are embedded in hip hop and inspired by real life stories.

Kenrick ‘H20’ Sandy MBE

Co-Founder and Co-Artistic Director of Boy Blue, Associate Artist at the Barbican London, is one of the most renowned choreographers and performers in the UK urban, commercial and theatrical scenes.

Shannelle ‘Tali’ Fergus

A professional dancer and dance teacher/choreographer with over 10 years experience in the commercial world with the UK’s best and most successful companies (credits include Rihanna, FKA twigs & Kylie Minogue) and as an artist in her own right. Her choreographic style is a fusion of all of her training and influences, namely hip hop and contemporary.

Shawn Aimey

With a career spanning the last 20 years performing on different stages and platforms both locally and internationally. Founder of A.I.M Collective the UK’s first female popping crew. His main styles are popping and locking, which he regularly teaches workshops in and also competes in worldwide competitions.
