VIBRANT. POWERFUL. UNIQUE.
Femina is inspired by a book written by Janina Ramirez, which reveals the power and influence of medieval women and LGBTQIA+ people that had been written out of history. Looking at these historical figures and our own modern day experiences, Femina expresses an overarching, timeless message of the fight for the feminine to be seen and heard, celebrating and expressing power within women and LGBTQIA+ individuals – all of which suffer societal discrimination rooted in misogyny.
A visual spectacle
The highly anticipated World Premiere from choreographic duo Hannah Ekholm and Faye Stoeser; Femina celebrates the power of the feminine through their signature fusion of contemporary, club, and street dance styles in a vibrant, electronic-driven world where feminine voices reclaim space and power on their own terms.
Femina is a visual spectacle featuring six dancers, set to an original score by world-renowned musicians Floating Points (Mercury Prize nominee), Ela Minus and Stella Mozgawa.
"This was a thoroughly entertaining and invigorating piece, performed with tireless energy and fearsome athletic ability.”
