FIRST LIGHT FESTIVAL

We are returning to the Moon Dance Tent with a jam-packed programme of workshops and performances guaranteed to get you into the groove at Lowestoft’s First Light Festival. Kicking off the festival with a toe-tapping, hip-hop twisting Hoedown, join Line Dance teacher Richard Pye as he takes you through the eras from Jolene to Cowboy Carter. With sand between your toes, close your eyes and let Hula Magic whisk you away to the sun-kissed islands of Hawaii, with a perfect introduction to the beautiful, rhythmic Hula dance style. Take a break from moving and watch award-winning dance company, Anatomical, bring to life the extraordinary tale of a ten-year old girl who unexpectedly becomes the manager of a professional men’s football team! Or watch the stunning Ceyda Tanc Dance Company with their hypnotic blend of contemporary and traditional Turkish folk dance. As the day comes to a close, you can wind down with the whole family by joining us for our Silent Disco for all ages.

Wake up on Sunday morning with the best family disco in town, Baby Loves to Boogie! Expect toddler-friendly tunes, colourful props, and arts & crafts to keep little feet and hands busy. There’ll be performances throughout the day from West Midland’s dance company, Linden Dance, with Unboxed – an explosive duet drawing on Afro-fusion and contemporary movement styles with two giant wooden cubes and a pulsing soundtrack. Join Rosy May for a joyful, uplifting and vibrant workshop that brings together rhythmic dance and music from across the globe, including Mali and Montserrat, and end the festival on a high with a foot stomping, heart pumping Ceilidh, brought to you by Folk Dance Remixed who guarantee to get you on your feet and feeling funky with their unique choreographic palate of traditional folk and contemporary street, using legendary moves and freestyle grooves from Soul Train Line to Lucky 7 to Electric Slide.
