DanceEast is back at the MoonDance Tent for First Light Festival this summer!

Join us from Saturday 20 – Sunday 21 June on Lowestoft’s South Beach for a jam-packed programme of workshops and performances guaranteed to get you moving and grooving in the MoonDance Tent.

  • Kicking off the festival programme are the iconic duo, Tem & Su, fresh from London’s South Bank last summer and returning to First Light for the first time since 2022 to guide you through the jazz, soul and funk eras of social dance.
  • Casson & Friends will be animating the MoonDance Tent with their playful, interactive performance, ARCADE, guiding the audience through dance ‘games’ set to a fun and bouncy electronic soundtrack, encouraging playful participation to connect people of all ages.
  • Ekleido present their critically acclaimed work, SPLICE, in which two dancers explore the balance between limitation and possibility to solve a physical puzzle. Featuring a new original score by world-renowned electronic musician, Floating Points, the choreography draws on a combination of contemporary dance and underground club styles including New Way Voguing, Threading and Bone-Breaking.
  • As the day comes to a close, you can wind down with the whole family by joining us for our Silent Disco for all ages. Then wake up on Sunday morning with the best family disco in town, Baby Loves to Boogie! Expect toddler-friendly tunes, colourful props, and arts and crafts to keep little feet and hands busy.
  • There’ll be performances throughout the day from Taunton-based dance company, aKa Dance Theatre, with shed-ache; a seriously silly dance theatre show that transports little people and their grown-ups to a world that sits somewhere between reality and make believe.
  • Shake off the sand between your toes and get into the rhythm with Vivian Tanaka’s high-energy Afro Dance workshop. Set to vibrant African music and booming afrobeats, this empowering, beginner-friendly session celebrates culture, confidence and self-expression in an uplifting workshop for all ages.
  • We’re delighted to be joined once again by the incredible Glass House Dance, who always bring the vibes to the MoonDance Tent and join us this year with their Electric Ceilidh, blending folk, funk and hip hop music to bring you a ‘ceilidh with a twist’ – embracing the joy, heart and soul of social dancing.
