FOCUS | EncoreEast and Friends

A unique evening of film, conversation and the premiere of Focus, a production created by Alethia Antonia, Edd Arnold (Russell Maliphant Dance Company dancers) and EncoreEast, the Ipswich-based company of mature dancers that began at DanceEast. Inspired by Maliphant’s production Silent Lines.

This performance marks the culmination of a creative co-designed project funded by Arts Council England and Russell Maliphant Dance Company. A collaboration that included open on-line workshops – attracting participants from across the world, rehearsals on zoom, and a more traditional in person rehearsal period.

Running alongside the creation of Focus, RMDC has been investigating how Maliphant’s approach has enabled the dancers’ development and how a distributed leadership approach has enabled the development of EncoreEast as a company.

The evening will begin with a conversation discussing the project and ideas of ‘beauty of art’ and community practice. Followed by a short film of the making of Focus, and finishing with the live performance from the outstanding company members of EncoreEast.

This performance will be performed live, and livestreamed. Tickets for the livestream can be booked here.
