Part of the PhotoEast Festival 2016, a unique collaboration between DanceEast and photography students from UCS will create a choreographed gallery of specially-commissioned photographs representing the Festival theme ”Of Time and Place”. Ipswich’s first Moving Gallery will journey from Jerwood DanceHouse along the Waterfront to UCS Plaza as part of a full day of events to launch the Festival on Saturday 28 May.
PhotoEast is a not-for-profit organisation which believes in the power of photography to bring positive change for individuals, communities and the places in which they live.
The PhotoEast Photography Festival is a new UK showcase for contemporary photography and an opportunity for Suffolk to establish its own unique event. The inaugural 4-week event will take place from 24 May to 25 June 2016 in Ipswich and in other towns and communities linked by the East Suffolk railway line.
Under the theme ‘Of Time and Place’, exhibitions, talks, workshops, family and professional events will be held in venues, traditional and unexpected, inside and out, from shipping containers to disused buildings, in galleries, churches and along local bus routes. The Festival will inspire a new audience for contemporary photography and harness our love of sharing images – with an appeal for anyone who has a camera or a phone.
