Join Akademi for a beautiful, fun, and thought-provoking exploration of plastics and human’s relationship with them. Described by young audience members as “excellent and stunning”, “breath-taking and astonishing”, and “amazing and beautiful”.
Drawing on South Asian Dance techniques, Plastic Drastic Fantastic is ‘highly visual’, with choreography that ‘simply sparkles’. It is ‘gorgeous’ (Mary Pollard, Everything Theatre).
Designed to be accessible for D/deaf audiences, Plastic Drastic Fantastic is a vibrant, fun and thought-provoking show for our time.
There are a limited number of sensory cushions available for the performance that are designed to be held by audiences who are D/deaf or with a hearing impairment, offering an additional sensory experience of the show. The sensory cushions are soft objects that pulsate to the beat and respond to tonal qualities of the music and sounds. Take a journey through the fantastic and drastic world of plastic! Explore the fascinating properties of plastic through movement-based play, and experiment with unconventional ways to upcycle. Learn Mudra, expressive hand gestures used in classical South Asian dance forms, to tell a story and co-create a unique dance sequence. Get seriously creative in a fun, interactive experience for young people.
