GCSE Dance Day will take place this Spring here at DanceEast with James Cousins Company and Boy Blue. Join us for a day of workshops with these two incredible companies and give your students the opportunity to work with professional dance artists and further explore pieces from the GCSE Professional Set Works. Ideal for students in Years 9, 10 and 11.
Groups will have a 2-hour workshop with each company and explore the following:
James Cousins Company:
Based on Within Her Eyes the workshop content has been designed by the company in collaboration with experienced GCSE dance teachers to make clear links to the GCSE specification and aim to:
- Introduce the choreographic themes
- Discuss the production features and their link to the choreographic intention
- Teach pupils a key sequence from the work
- Develop pupils contact and choreographic skills to support both their understanding of the work and their own performance and choreographic work
Boy Blue:
In this workshop, students will work through a programme of creative tasks and exercises that unpick the ideas and themes of Emancipation of Expressionism. Led by a Boy Blue dance practitioner, the workshop will provide your students with the tools to recreate and reimagine the production.
Cost: £25 per student
