Youth Dance Project | 12-17 years

WHAT TO EXPECT

This four-week workshop is an exciting chance to explore movement and spoken word techniques through Zoom. Taking inspiration from your own personal experiences and amusing anecdotes from the past few months in lockdown, this project will provide a much-needed opportunity to put an uplifting and positive spin on life and what it means to be a teenager right now.

This project will be four weeks of fun; getting creative and meeting other young people as you use your body and mind to bring creative ideas to life. You’ll work together with the group to create your own movement, exploring how technology can be used to bring us together in an age of social distancing. Together we’ll work towards a sharing at the end of the course for your friends and family to watch via Zoom.

If you’re looking for a fun, creative way to socialise and get moving this autumn, then this is the project for you!

“Whether you have baked, tiktok’d, slept, ate or quizzed your way through lockdown, we want to hear about you! Let’s celebrate all you have achieved and be proud of the stories you have to tell. What’s made you laugh, cry, scream, smile and pick up the phone to ring your friend for just a little bit longer; community and friendship has been the unsung hero of the hour. It’s time to dance our way out of this funk and spread a little love back into our bodies.”
– Laura Bryars, Youth Dance Project Tutor

IS THIS CLASS FOR YOU?

This class is suitable for young people aged 12 – 17 years, and no previous dance experience is needed.

HOW TO PREPARE FOR YOUR CLASS

You should wear anything that you feel comfortable to move in and that is non-restrictive e.g. leggings, tracksuit bottoms, or workout gear. It’s best if you dance bare foot, but this will depend on the space you will be dancing in, so you may prefer to wear socks or dance shoes such as ballet or jazz shoes.

Make sure you have water to hand, it’s important to stay hydrated!

We’ll send you the Zoom links for your classes via email once you have booked, and you’ll be able to join the class up to 15 minutes early.
