Laura Biggs
Passionate about creating new theatre and film, Laura Williamson Biggs trained at London Contemporary Dance School (2002 – 2005), The Pit Theatre in New York and Dance East in Suffolk. She started out on the Suffolk Scholarship Scheme; the beginning of the CAT programme at Dance East as we know it now. Laura has been a contemporary dancer and Movement Director for her entire professional career.
After graduating, Laura started out working as a dancer eclecticly with Secret Cinema, Future Shorts, The Mostly Everything People, toured with a couple of bands and in was in various music videos.
Most recently, Laura was Movement Director for Ben Whishaw and Aneil Karia (Oscar winning Director) on the multi award winning short film BEAT and the feature film SURGE, for which Ben Whishaw won the ‘World Cinema Dramatic Special Jury Award‘ at Sundance Film Festival, 2020. SURGE was released nationally in cinemas and Netflix in May 2021.
Laura was Movement Director on Director Joseph Pierce’s latest animation starring Sam Spruell, which premiered at Cannes Film Festival in 2022.
She is Associate Director at UNIT – The Dance Company for Every Body, alongside Tom Hobden and Kate Flurrie and collaborates within the community.
