This festive season follow the delightful transformation from caterpillar to butterfly with Compagnia TPO one of Italy’s leading children’s theatre companies. A truly magical show for Christmas, Butterflies is for children aged 4 years+ and will run at the Jerwood DanceHouse Ipswich from Saturday 13 – Monday 22 December.
Using motion capture technology, Compagnia TPO invites you to a playful and theatrical experience. Dotted with moments of participation, children are invited to watch and join in with the company’s dancers on stage.
Paint with your arms, compose lullabies with your feet and chase caterpillars on all fours!

Dancers, performers and the audience itself interact with each other exploring new expressive forms that go beyond language and cultural barriers. TPO’s performances are renowned for using big visual sceneries which transform into interactive theatrical spaces, thanks to the use of sensors and digital technologies; this is what makes these shows accessible to a vast international audience.
Featuring a stunning performance space that is touch sensitive, Butterflies creates an imaginary environment for both performers and curious onlookers alike. A sell-out success when it debuted at the Jerwood DanceHouse in December 2009, get ready for a spectacular theatrical experience for the eyes, ears, fingers and toes!
