In line with new government advice to stop the spread of the coronavirus, we have made the very difficult decision to close the Jerwood DanceHouse in order to protect the health and wellbeing of our audiences, participants and staff. All public activity – including classes, workshops, performances and events will be cancelled until further notice.
Clearly, this is not a decision that we wanted to make, particularly at such short notice and we sincerely apologise for any inconvenience caused.
As a charity this is a difficult time – we are working to find ways to minimise the impact on our finances and ensure we are able to continue delivering our vital community projects, creative and artistic programme. It would make a huge difference if you would consider making a donation here.
We will be in touch via email with anyone who has booked DanceEast activities.
Digital Dance Classes
DanceEast is more than just a DanceHouse and during this period of increased inactivity we are keen to ensure access to our services remains possible. Although it won’t be our usual programme, we’ll be releasing digital classes for you take part in at home, through our YouTube channel.
The digital programme will include classes for different age groups and chair-based exercises to enable less-mobile people to join in and stay active. DanceEast dance artists will lead their digital audiences through light exercises – raising morale, and more importantly reducing the negative effects of inactivity and inevitable boredom. Keep an eye on our website to find out more.
Our thoughts are with all those impacted and we will continue to do our part to support our community, while we work together to minimise health risks for everybody everywhere. Thank you for your understanding and rest assured we are already planning our first party for healthier, happier times!
Take care and look after each other,
The DanceEast Team
