“Audacious, funny, nostalgic.” – London Evening Standard
Lolo is a little Spanish bull who doesn’t feel like he fits in with the other bulls in the farm. He doesn’t like playing rough, and he really doesn’t enjoy the big loud bullfights. Instead, he loves dancing with the Moon every night, and dreams of becoming Lola, a famous flamenco dancing cow! Will you come and dance with Lolo and help make their dreams come true?
The Bull and the Moon is an endearing family-friendly production that celebrates anyone who dances to their own tune. A fun, fiery, and magical dance performance that blends contemporary dance, flamenco and physical theatre, this is a heart-warming story about the importance of finding oneself and the beauty of gender diversity.
Directed by Carlos Pons Guerra for DeNada Dance Theatre, with choreography by Pons Guerra and flamenco artist Ana Garcia, designs by Ryan Laight and produced by Spin Arts.
“There is nothing like Pons Guerra’s work elsewhere on the British dance stage.” – Dance Europe
Families are invited to join us in the foyer before the performance for arts and crafts, as well as after the performance for a short on-stage flamenco workshop.
The performance at 2.00pm is a relaxed performance (it does not contain strobe lighting, triggering stage effects, or high sound levels) with a pre-show touch tour* and dedicated quiet space. If you would like to join us for the touch tour at 1.20pm, please book your space when booking your performance tickets.
Suitable for D/deaf and hard of hearing audiences.
Meet the performers, get to know the characters in The Bull and the Moon better, and hear more about what the set and lights look like before you come and watch, here.
*What is a touch tour?
Touch tours give audiences a different sensory experience of a set and show prior to a performance. This may include audio description and touching parts of the set, props, and costume. People that might like to attend, for example, could be visually impaired, neurodivergent, or someone that would like the chance to feel comfortable in the space before the performance starts.
Commissioned by Bradford Producing Hub and FABRIC. Supported by Kala Sangam Arts Centre, Arts Council England and the Canarian Institute for Cultural Development.
If you would like to familiarise yourself with the building before your visit, you can download our Visual Story here or take a Virtual Tour here.
