A fun and engaging contemporary dance class for participants aged 50+, delivered in a supportive, structured session. This class is recommended if you have at least 2+ years of experience in contemporary and have attended contemporary classes consistently over the past year.
Led by an experienced practitioner, participants can expect to:
- Explore their creativity and musicality through dance
- Learn at an appropriate pace and level
- Develop technique and stamina
- Build strength, mobility and flexibility
Participants should wear clothes that they are comfortable moving in and bring a reusable bottle of water. Water fountains can be found on the ground floor and 1st floor of the building. Shoes should be removed for class and participants should wear socks or participate bare foot.
We also offer a Open Contemporary class for Over 50s. If you are unsure which class level is appropriate for you, please don’t hesitate to contact our friendly Box Office Team on 01473 295230 who would be happy to advise you.

Half term: There will be no class on Monday 17 February 2025

Get Dancing Access Scheme
If you’re aged 18 or over, in receipt of Universal Credit, live in IP1, IP2, IP3 or IP4, and do not currently take part in classes at DanceEast, you can access one whole term of classes completely free. Find out more about the Get Dancing Access Scheme and the necessary criteria here. Places are limited and will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.
