Artist Development Day

30 May 2018

On Friday 15 June DanceEast is hosting an Artist Development Day for local artists. The day will consist of three sessions, with spaces limited booking is essential.

Session One | Creative Heart
10.00am – 2.00pm
The Ashton Studio provides a space for Creative Heart to come together to share practice and network. Participants will liaise directly with Hayley Matthews to book onto the session via the Creative Heart Facebook page here.

Session Two | Kyla Booth Lucking
3.00 – 5.00pm
Kyla Booth Lucking is Arts Council Relationship Manager for Dance. Kyla will lead a group funding seminar, specifically for dance artists. Places are free, but are limited to 15 and need to booked via Box Office on 01473 295230.

After the group seminar, Kyla is offering three individual 20-minute chats: these are free but artists will need to book via Box Office on 01473 295230. These sessions are offered on a first come, first served basis and the first individual session (between 5.00 – 5.20pm) has already been snapped up! Therefore there are two remaining slots to book: at 5.20pm and at 5.40pm.

Session Three | Danielle Teale
6.00 – 8.30pm, light refreshments included
In 2017, Danielle Teale launched the AEP – an artist led skills exchange initiative for dance artists working in high quality, socially engaged choreographic practice, within and inspired by the community. The first AEP Skills Exchange drew on the collective skills and experience of the artists involved and gave space for dialogue and practical discovery on themes such as artistic integrity, people and communication, resilience and self-significance. This innovative, independently led programme, enabled artists voices to be heard, and allowed for a rich and meaningful professional journey to take place.

“One of the most enriching experiences I have had as an artist. I have never before been in a CPD environment where there has been so much depth and intricacy in our explorations”
– Rachel Fullegar, AEP Skills Exchange, participating artist Dec 2017

To continue the ethos of artists conversations and sharing, Danielle Teale invites dance artists from Suffolk, Norfolk and surrounding areas to attend an open space event, to learn from contributing artists about their experience from the first AEP Skills Exchange, and to hear your thoughts on how this programme could support you in you practice for the future.

Please RSVP to Nilima Banerji: Nilima.Banerji@danceeast.co.uk by 11 June to book your place. Please note that places are allocated on a first come, first served basis and are limited to 15.
