Devised by Digital Artist Nic Sandiland, Choreographer Yael Flexer and the company, Imagining Otherwise is an immersive digital dance which explores the possibility of parallel experiences, and the multitude of stories that spring from it.
Visually dynamic digital floor projections are shaped by live performance. Dancers’ movements echo the lines and shadows and are interwoven with Wendy Houstoun’s witty spoken text.
Using real-time image processing, akin to live charcoal drawing, the five dancers create beautiful digital design whilst moving through space. Once they stop moving everything slowly disappears.
Imagining Otherwise conjure ideas of migration and transience, surveillance, climate change and our impact on the environment. It playfully explores the infinite possibilities we have from our daily decisions and our wish for things to be different.
What if we followed a different choice?
AUDIENCE WARNINGS: No strobes, but use of light projections that those with light sensitivity may find triggering.
