EXPERIENCE: SOUTH ASIAN DANCE | Bollywood Workshop and Showcase with Dance Folks
Join Bhushan Salunke, Bollywood choreographer, theatre director, and founder of Dance Folks for an energetic Indian Folk and Bollywood dance workshop in the run-up to Platforma Festival 2025!
This fun and inclusive session invites people of all ages to move, connect, and celebrate the joy of dance together. With over 20 years of experience across theatre, film, and Bollywood choreography, Bhushan brings a wealth of artistry and passion to every class. Through Dance Folks, he leads regular workshops and performances in Ipswich, blending authentic traditions with creativity and community spirit.
What to Expect:
- Learn authentic Indian Folk and Bollywood dance styles in a joyful and wellbeing-focused dance experience for all levels
- Explore the story of Indian legendary King, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, through movement and music and get an opportunity to join the stage performance with Dance Folks at the Platforma Community Takeover event*
- Enjoy a live performance by the Dance Folks team at the end of the workshop, showcasing the vibrant and talented dancers who have performed at Global Rhythms, The Big Afternoon, Indian Summer Mela, and other local events
*Workshop participants will be invited to attend a follow-up rehearsal on Friday 11 October if they wish to be involved in this performance. The Platforma Community Takeover event will take place at the Jerwood DanceHouse on Saturday 18 October. This is an optional opportunity and not a prerequisite of participating in this workshop. This workshop is part of EXPERIENCE: HIP HOP DANCE AND SOUTH ASIAN DANCE day at DanceEast; bringing together opportunities to move and be moved, the day will consist of classes, workshops and refreshments. This is a free event but spaces on classes and workshops must be booked in advance.
