Building confidence & creativity through movement
What to expect
Classes are led by Charlie Hendren and a range of visiting guest artists, giving students the opportunity to experience different creative approaches and teaching styles throughout the year. Sessions introduce the foundations of contemporary dance, helping young people develop coordination, strength, musicality, balance and movement confidence. Students explore travelling through space, moving between floor work and standing, learning new movement vocabulary and developing the physical skills needed for contemporary dance in a safe and supportive environment.
Alongside technical development, creativity is at the heart of every class. Through improvisation, creative tasks and collaborative activities, students are encouraged to explore their own ideas, build confidence, develop teamwork and discover their individual artistic voice. Throughout the year, students have opportunities to share their work in informal studio sharings for parents and carers, celebrating their progress and creative achievements in a relaxed and welcoming setting.
