DANCEEAST – IPSWICH

ROYAL ACADEMY OF DANCE (RAD) – BATTERSEA, LONDON

Don’t be intimidated by this school’s prestigious name. As well as full-time courses forming future Strictly professionals, the Academy also offers extra-curricular classes for enthusiastic amateurs. From youth street dance to adult ballet, you’ll find your favourite dance style here.

DANCEXCHANGE – BIRMINGHAM

Flamenco, Bollywood, urban fusion, street dance, Argentine tango… you’ll just love exploring different kinds of dance in the vibrant and exciting classes at DanceXchange. Whether you learn your own jazz solo or get involved in one of the creative performance groups, you’ll be getting a ten from Len in no time.

DANCEBASE – EDINBURGH

Drop-in classes at Scotland’s national centre for dance include Highland, Irish and Ceilidh, West African and Afro Cuban dancing, with classes for young, old, beginner and professional alike. Can’t resist a dose of retro? Try out their “80s icons” and “90s pop” sessions.

NORTHERN SCHOOL OF CONTEMPORARY DANCE – LEEDS

From kids’ Saturday sessions to choreography master classes for teens, the NSCD’s contemporary courses are creative outlets for youthful energy. Adults can choose from ‘beginner’ and ‘improver’ technique classes, creative dance, or shake through a fun Zumba session.

Strictly’s very own Karen Hauer (now Clifton), tried out this dance school’s unique AntiGravityⓇ Yoga session (the London Dance Academy is the only school in the capital to offer this popular exercise trend). Their programme caters for every level of skill from beginners to professional performers.

DANCE CITY – NEWCASTLE UPON TYNE

Dance City in Newcastle has been inspiring the North East to dance for 30 years now. And the sheer variety of activities they arrange makes it obvious why people love it. Classes include hip hop, ballet, Bollywood, breakdancing, ballroom, flamenco, belly dancing, jazz, and possibly the cutest tap dance for kids called ‘Tiny Tappers’.

URDANG ACADEMY – LONDON

Take up an evening class with the Urdang Academy and you can dance in the incredible surroundings of the Old Finsbury Town Hall. Or, if you have your heart set on a career on the Stage, try their Musical Theatre summer school or enrol full time: over 95% of graduates go on to work in the West End.

Ballroom, Bollywood and even Burlesque classes are available at various locations across London with the City Academy. If you’re a nervous novice dancer, their class for absolute beginners is the perfect place to start. Fancy yourself a Beyoncé in waiting? The Diva workshop will teach you her most iconic routines. I don’t think you’re ready…

SUNSHINE STUDIOS – MANCHESTER

Sure, at Sunshine Studios you’ll see your average ballroom, tap and jazz lessons. But you’ll also find classes in Michael Jackson dance, body popping, street, vogueing and a whole host more. Oh, and there’s the hip hop summer camp, too, where participants can learn from the most high-profile hip hop dancers in the world.

CENTRAL SCHOOL OF BALLET – LONDON

From basic fitness through Pilates to ballet technique and contemporary jazz, there’s no shortage of ways to get involved in dancing at the Central School of Ballet. All of Central’s adult classes are run on a first come, first served basis, so arrive on time to make sure you get a place!

ARABESQUE SCHOOL OF DANCE – WEST MIDLANDS

Whether you’re young or young-at-heart, everyone is encouraged to don their dancing shoes here. From fast and furious Irish dancing to the adorably-named “Dinky Disco” for tots, you’ll find a class to help you get fit and have fun.

PINEAPPLE STUDIO – LONDON

With over 20 dance styles covered in 250 classes taking place every week, you can learn tap, Tango and everything in between at Pineapple. For your own Strictly experience, enrol in their Ballroom course and you’ll learn four ballroom and four latin dances in just 12 weeks.

ANTHONY CLIFFORD STUDIOS – ESSEX

With fabulous facilities and a zest for inspiring everyone to dance, Anthony Clifford Studios is the perfect place to seek solace when Strictly is over. Family-run and offering a friendly, relaxed atmosphere, adults and children alike can learn tap, ballet, ballroom, latin, disco and more. And the quality of teaching is so high, it’s won the International Dance School of the Year award four years running.

PINK KITTEN DANCE SCHOOL – BRISTOL

Looking to learn unique forms of dance in a fun way? Pink Kitten is just what you’re looking for. Their Burlesque, pole dancing and “Bringing Sexy Back” classes are popular with hen parties, while other classes teach circus skills include aerial yoga and even how to hula hoop like a pro.

ROYAL BALLET SCHOOL – LONDON

Sadly, the UK’s premier ballet school doesn’t offer a weeknight session for us Strictly fans with two left feet… But budding Darcey Bussells should consider their summer Associate Programme for an insight into top-level training and inspiration. It’s perfect preparation for a career in this incredible art form.
