Our school workshops offer engaging, high-quality dance and creative experiences tailored to your curriculum, and budget.

Led by experienced professionals, sessions range from high-energy performance days and contemporary technique workshops to behind-the-scenes digital and lighting experiences. Students can create, collaborate, and build confidence while exploring both the artistic and technical sides of dance.

Delivered either in your school or at DanceEast’s Jerwood DanceHouse, workshops are inclusive, flexible, and designed to inspire all learners.

Ready, Steady, Dance

A high-energy, practical workshop where students collaborate with a professional Dance Artist to create and perform a piece in a day.

  • Involves learning contemporary choreography and creating original movement sequences.
  • Encourages teamwork, creativity, and confidence-building.
  • Culminates in a short informal performance for parents/carers.

Best delivered as a full-day workshop.

Contemporary Dance and Choreography Workshop

A combination of technique and creative exploration, helping students refine their dance skills and develop their own choreographic voice.

  • Introduces contemporary dance technique through practical classwork.
  • Encourages students to experiment with movement and composition.
  • Enhances communication, collaboration, and independent creative thinking.

Best delivered as a 90-minute workshop, or a half-day workshop.

Digital/Lighting Workshop

Our digital and lighting workshops explore the creative and technical possibilities of stage production. Participants learn how to design, program, and control lighting using accessible digital tools, with a strong focus on experimentation and real-world application.

Through hands-on sessions, students gain a practical understanding of what happens behind the scenes, developing both creative and technical skills. The workshops are led by our in-house, highly qualified technicians, who bring extensive industry experience and a strong background in education.

Careers in Dance Workshop

A session designed to inspire students by showcasing the breadth of careers available in the dance sector.

  • Highlights roles from choreographers and performers to producers, dance scientists, and movement directors.
  • Engages students in practical tasks to explore their own strengths and interests in dance.
  • Provides insight into pathways, including vocational training, university courses, and pre-professional programmes such as the DanceEast CAT.

GCSE Dance Day

Our GCSE Dance Days take place once a year, usually in October. The day is designed for students in Years 9, 10 and 11 to work with professional companies featured in the GCSE syllabus. Students will take part in workshops led by these companies, as well as have the opportunity to speak with the artists about their work, the companies, and careers in dance.

Spaces are limited, so early booking is advised.
