What is Studio Scratch?

Studio Scratch is an informal mixed-bill evening showcasing new dance work, movement experimentation and emerging choreographic ideas.

Artists are invited to share short works in progress in a supportive environment, giving audiences a unique opportunity to experience dance at different stages of development.

Each event features a diverse programme of performances followed by a facilitated audience discussion and informal networking opportunity.

Why we developed Studio Scratch and how it works

Studio Scratch is designed to support artists to develop their practice through experimentation, feedback and exchange. There’s opportunities to:

  • Test new ideas with a live audience
  • Receive valuable feedback and insight
  • Share work in a supportive environment
  • Connect with fellow artists, audiences and industry peers
  • Build confidence in presenting work in development

For audiences, Studio Scratch offers a chance to discover new artists, gain insight into the creative process and play an active role in the development of new work.

Selected artists present a short excerpt, idea or work in development as part of a mixed programme. Following the performances, audiences are invited to take part in a facilitated discussion, providing constructive feedback and reflections for participating artists. The evening concludes with an informal social gathering.
