An exciting opportunity for experienced dancers aged 12-16.
Our Summer Intensives are a fantastic way for you to take part in dance activity during the summer holiday, experience a range of dance styles and work intensively with professional dance artists over two days.
This summer, we are proud to be working with artists from Avant Garde Dance Company and Shobana Jeyasingh Dance.
Avant Garde Dance Company
Avant Garde Dance Company is at the forefront of London’s innovative Hip Hop/Contemporary Dance scene. The company was founded in 2001 and is led by Artistic Director, Tony Adigun.
The Summer Intensive workshop will be led by Dani Harris Walters, company and senior faculty member. Dani is an experienced choreographer, performer and teacher based in South West London who has worked with professional choreographers and community projects nationally and internationally. Dani’s work is heavily focused on intrepid movement, performance intensity and honouring artistic integrity. He reforms and restructures movement from many dance styles to create a unique and distinctive dance language.
You will work with Dani to explore and learn material from Scrum, from the world of Illegal Dance, which touches on themes of protest, power and control.
Shobana Jeyasingh Dance
Shobana Jeyasingh Dance creates internationally acclaimed works for stage, site and screen that are intellectually adventurous and visually exhilarating, and was named Best Independent Dance Company by the Critics Circle National Dance Awards in February 2020.
Their latest show, Clorinda Agonistes – Clorinda The Warrior, is a dramatic and powerful work that weaves contemporary dance, film, and baroque and new music to create a story that explores violence, resilience and revelation across the boundaries of culture and time.
