We’re excited to be back at Latitude this summer, for the festival’s 20th anniversary!
Join us on the Waterfront Stage, where we’ll be bringing together a mix of artists and companies who each bring something different, from bold, physical storytelling to playful, high-energy performances and moments that draw you in.
You can catch Alleyne Dance’s Far From Home, a powerful piece exploring journeys of migration and what it means to search for a better life. PCK Dance’s VESSEL brings dancers and a live musician together on stage, exploring human connection, and Le Patin Libre’s Wheels & Cello shifts things in a different direction, blending rollerskating, music and movement in a way that feels both joyful and unexpected.
Ekleido present two contrasting works; Femina, celebrating the power of the feminine, and Rorschach, a more hypnotic, shape-shifting piece that plays with perception. You can also experience Matthew Bourne’s New Adventures’ Doorstep Duets; a short, intimate work about growth and connection, and an excerpt from Swan Lake, and Uchenna’s Our Mighty Groove, which brings the energy of the dancefloor to the stage, with their signature blend of club styles.
We’ll also be at the Listening Post for a special conversation with Sir Matthew Bourne OBE and DanceEast’s Chief Executive & Creative Director, Anthony Missen.

DanceEast Presents…
Alleyne Dance | Far From Home | Friday 24 July
Alleyne Dance is a unique, powerful multi-award-winning company that blends Caribbean, Hip Hop and Kathak within a contemporary dance context, with whom we’ve built a longstanding relationship through performances and work with young people.
This dance production, which you may have seen performed at DanceEast in April 2023, explores the topic of immigration and the consequences the search for a better life has for those forced to seek it due to social or political devastations.
Bringing Alleyne Dance’s dynamic, powerhouse style to the stage, Far From Home is a hard hitting, atmospheric, abstract narrative dance production. Alleyne Dance are also Guest Artistic Directors for this year’s National Youth Dance Company show, Memory Keepers, and recently worked with our Centre for Advanced Training (CAT) students on their 2025 End of Year Show.

Featuring Isabelle Evans and former Wayne McGregor dancers James Pett and Travis Clausen-Knight, accompanied by composer Sean Pett performing live electronic music, the work is shaped in real time, creating a raw and thrilling performance with dancers , James Pett and Travis Clausen-Knight.
Through world-class dance and riveting live music, VESSEL explores the tension between strength, vulnerability and human connection.
PCK Dance has toured internationally across Europe and Asia and has been recognised by the Critics’ Circle at the UK National Dance Awards as “the next big thing,” while VESSEL has been praised as “mesmerising” and “electrifying.”

DanceEast presents Le Patin Libre (“the free skate”), an internationally recognised contemporary skating company turned figure skating revolution. Its virtuosic skaters ditch sparkles and medals to explore an urban, contemporary and sometimes acrobatic approach to their passion for gliding — here swapping ice skates for roller skates.
In Wheels & Cello, one performer switches skates for strings, while the others exchange blades for wheels. This playful and poetic work transforms the stage into a rolling, musical playground and includes moments of audience interaction. The company have previously performed as part of Dance Umbrella festival.
The show radiates joyfulness, camaraderie, and emancipated pride, while never abandoning the refined grace and musicality that define Le Patin Libre’s work.

Matthew Bourne’s New Adventures’ Doorstep Duets and an excerpt from Swan Lake.
Swan Lake is an audacious reinvention of Tchaikovsky’s masterpiece which caused a sensation when it premiered nearly 30 years ago and has since become the most successful dance theatre production of all time. Thrilling, bold, witty and emotive, it is best known for replacing the female corps-de-ballet with a menacing male ensemble, shattering convention and turning tradition on its head. First staged at Sadler’s Wells in London in 1995, it became the longest-running full-length dance classic in the West End and Broadway. Experience a rare chance to see an excerpt performed by stars of New Adventures.
Doorstep Duets is a partnership between New Adventures and Farnham Maltings, developed in 2021 as a response to social isolation, bringing world-class dance into community settings. Have you ever sat on a park bench and wondered who came before you, who might come after, what they were thinking, and what hopes and fears they were hiding? The Bench, a 20-minute performance centred on the theme of growth, choreographed by Glenn Graham and performed by stars of Matthew Bourne’s New Adventures, tells the story of three people whose lives overlap in unexpected ways; taking audiences on a journey of self-discovery, exploring confidence, understanding and how communities can flourish together. Blending joy, wonder and storytelling, the work creates an intimate, accessible dance-theatre experience.
You can also join Sir Matthew Bourne OBE in conversation with Anthony Missen, Chief Executive & Creative Director of DanceEast, at the Listening Post; an opportunity to hear from one of the UK’s most celebrated choreographers and directors about his work and career.

DanceEast presents Ekleido’s Femina and Rorschach. Femina, inspired by Janina Ramirez’s book, reveals the power and influence of medieval women and LGBTQIA+ people written out of history. Performed by six dancers with original music by Stella Mozgawa, the work celebrates the power of the feminine. Rorschach sees three performers reimagine the iconic 1960s inkblot test, featuring original music by Floating Points.
Ekleido, a choreographic duo formed by Hannah Ekholm and Faye Stoeser, are recognised for creating dynamic work across live performance and film, embracing multidisciplinary collaboration with leading figures in electronic music. Their distinctive movement language fuses contemporary dance with club and street styles, including New Way Voguing, Threading and Bonebreaking, alongside Waacking and House.
We have a longstanding relationship with Ekleido, who are one of the guest choreographers for this year’s DanceEast CAT End of Year Show. The pieces are presented by DanceEast but produced by The Place.

DanceEast presents Vicki Igbokwe-Ozoagu | Uchenna’s Our Mighty Groove. Inspired by the choreographer’s experiences in a New York nightclub, the work brings a cast of characters to life as they find community, connection and their true selves through dance.
Using a signature blend of club styles — house, waacking and vogue — fused with African and contemporary dance, this remixed take on a Uchenna classic brings the energy of the dancefloor to the stage. Winner of Best Dance Production at the 2025 Black British Theatre Awards, it’s an unforgettable experience for audiences of all ages, where everyone can feel the club vibes.
